Perlmutter is the new supercomputer owned by The National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC). Its computation power contains 6,159 Nvidia A100 GPUs and 1,500 AMD Milan CPUs to deliver nearly 3.8 exaflops of AI performance or about 60 petaflops of peak double-precision performance. 3.8 exaflops is sound nearly 10 times faster than Fugaku, but AI performance means 16bits precision. Thus, they cannot be compared directly. Normally TOP500 will publish an update in Jun. Then we can see whether Perlmutter beats Fugaku using the same standard or precision.
